State Department found client suitable

An applicant for federal employment retained us to respond to a proposed negative suitability determination.  The agency contended that our client was unsuitable for federal employment because of her prior use of recreational drugs.  In the written response, we explained that the recreational drug use occurred more than 10 years earlier and that our client subsequently obtained a secret clearance.  Based on our arguments, the agency withdrew the proposal.
