Bloomberg Law recently published an op-ed written by Shareholder Courtney Mickman and Senior Counsel Jenny Knopinski. In the piece, “Civil Service Protections Benefit the Public, Not Just the Feds,” Courtney and Jenny address misinformation about federal employee job protections. Contrary to what some politicians and commentators represent, civil service protections do not prevent government employers from removing or disciplining employees with performance or conduct issues. Instead: “Civil service protections help ensure that those decisions are driven by evidence, expertise, and the rule of law, rather than fear of political retaliation.”
