Case SUMMARY

Virginia court awarded unpaid wages to nurse practitioner

Thompson v. Herischi, Fairfax County Circuit Court, Case No. CL-2019-13955

Our client, Ms. Thompson, previously worked as a nurse practitioner at Fair Lakes Urgent Care Center.  Ms. Thompson’s supervisor was Payam Herischi, who owned the Center.  Mr. Herischi closed the Center without paying Ms. Thompson all of her earned wages or reimbursing her for business expenses.  We filed a lawsuit against Mr. Herischi to recover Ms. Thompson’s unpaid wages.  Mr. Herischi claimed that Ms. Thompson worked for the Center, not for him, personally.  However, the judge agreed with the arguments and evidence we presented at trial, entered judgment in favor of our client, and awarded her unpaid wages, liquidated damages, and attorney’s fees.
