Colin Spodek

Senior Counsel Colin Spodek is an experienced employment law attorney with a history of zealously advocating for his clients.  His attention to detail and desire to understand his clients’ goals and perspectives inform his approach.  Colin believes that the key to a productive attorney-client relationship is open, honest communication.

Colin is not afraid to fight for his clients and stand up for what is right.  He previously worked as a public defender at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.  In that role, Colin represented clients in more than 30 bench trials and secured not guilty verdicts and dismissals on behalf of clients who were wrongfully accused or subject to government overreach.

Before joining Alan Lescht and Associates, P.C., Colin served as Acting Deputy Assistant General Counsel for Personnel Law and Administrative Litigation at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where clients praised him for his advice and guidance.  Colin’s experience as an employment law attorney at multiple federal agencies has given him the insight and expertise to successfully advocate on behalf of his federal sector clients.  He has substantial experience in federal personnel law and administrative litigation, including extensive practice before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA), Office of Special Counsel (OSC), and in arbitration proceedings.

Colin earned his J.D., cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law, where he served on the Administrative Law Review, was a Dean’s Fellow in Legal Rhetoric: Writing & Research, and received several academic and service honors.  He earned his B.A. in English and History from the University of Michigan and is admitted to practice in Maryland.
