Sara represents federal, state, and private sector employees before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), EEOC Office of Federal Operations (OFO), Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), DC Office of Employee Appeals (DCOEA), DC Office of Human Rights (DCOHR), and in state and federal courts. She has successfully litigated discrimination, wage and hour, breach of contract, and constitutional claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
Sara works closely with her clients to achieve solutions-oriented results. Over the years, she has obtained substantial settlements and other favorable outcomes. Sara recently represented a U.S. Navy employee whose discriminations claims were dismissed. Based on her legal arguments, the EEOC reinstated the employee’s claims and ordered the Navy to conduct an investigation. Sara also served as counsel at a jury trial for a former District of Columbia employee. The court awarded the employee more than $500,000 for back pay and compensatory damages. The District of Columbia appealed the jury verdict, which was upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
Before joining Alan Lescht & Associates, Sara clerked for The Honorable Brian F. Holeman of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. As a law clerk, she managed all aspects of a civil calendar of approximately 350 cases, from initial scheduling conferences through post-trial motions hearings. Sara’s prior legal experience also includes representing plaintiffs in employment, civil rights, medical malpractice, and personal injury litigation in the District of Columbia. Prior to law school, she worked as an economic research analyst for a firm providing economic analysis in multi-million dollar antitrust and intellectual property litigation.
Sara is an active member of the Washington, DC, legal community. She is a member of the Communications Committee for the Washington Council of Lawyers and a member of the Membership Committee of the Trial Lawyers Association of Washington, DC.
