Federal Employees Convicted of Theft Could Lose Pension

Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Calif), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, introduced a bill last week that requires federal employees who are convicted of theft or embezzlement to forfeit their pensions. Under existing law, federal employees lose their pensions only if convicted of treason, espionage or other national security offenses.
