The False Claims Act, the Dodd-Frank Act, the Whistleblower Protect Act and the No FEAR Act provide legal protection and even financial reward to federal government workers who report fraud or other illegal acts. A provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation extends similar protections against retaliation to employees of publicly traded companies for reporting unlawful activity.
