Disability Discrimination Explained

In many cases we have found that discrimination has occurred with an employee that has a disability. In our 20 years of practicing employment law in the Washington D.C. area we have handled numerous cases in the areas of discrimination due to mental Disability, chronic conditions and failure to provide reasonable accommodations.

Discrimination Due To A Lack Reasonable Accommodations

It is the responsibility of the employer to provide "reasonable accommodations" for an employee with a disability. If you feel that your employer has not made the accommodations necessary for you to do your job you may be entitled to compensation.

Discrimination Due to Mental Disability

Disability is not confined to the physical body, mental disability is also protected under the law in discrimination cases. Discrimination involving bi-polar disorder and manic depression can lead to compensation for an employee.

Discrimination Due To Chronic Conditions

Reasonable accommodations should be made for employees with chronic conditions such as lung conditions, back problems, diabetes, etc. As an employee you have the right to receive the accommodations needed to perform your job.
